The second Italian commemorative 2-euro coin of 2020 was put into circulation today, Monday, November 16, as comrade Daniele informed me from Italy. It is the coin dedicated to the «150th Anniversary of the birth of Maria Montessori», an Italian doctor, educator and pedagogue.

Before continuing with the presentation of the currency I want to clarify the following. If you already have this coin in your collections, the piece you have belongs to one of the rolls that the Italian Mint IPZS put up for sale on its website. The coin intended for circulation, the one shown in the image below that Daniele just sent me, has begun to be distributed today in the Banks of Italy.

The coin shows a portrait of Maria Montessori of geometric composition with some didactic elements taken from her educational system. On the right, «RI», acronym for the Italian Republic; on the left, "R", mint mark of the Mint of Rome; on the right, «LDS», the initials of the designer Luciana De Simoni; in the upper and lower parts, the dates "1870" and "2020", the year of birth of the Italian pedagogue and of the issue of the coin, respectively; around the portrait, the legend "MARIA MONTESSORI". The twelve stars of the European flag appear on the circular crown of the coin.

The issue volume of this coin is 3 million. Of them 5,000 in Proof quality presented in a case. 4,000 rolls of 25 coins were also put up for sale. These products were issued last June.
