The soccer Euro 2020 has not been held this year on the pitch, but in some coins that are still being issued. The last to arrive is the one put on sale today November 4 in Portugal to commemorate this great sporting event that due to the health crisis that the planet is going through has been postponed to next year, provided that health circumstances allow it, will be held from June 11 to July 11, 2021.

The 2.5 euro face coin can be purchased in three versions with the same design, one minted in cupro-nickel at its face value, and two in precious metals, one in silver and the other in gold, at obviously higher prices.


On the reverse side, the 'UEFA EURO 2020' competition logo is depicted on a background that shows a stylized composition in which the lines of the field of play intermingle with the figures of the fans. The legend 'Portugal' appears at the top right, and the UEFA license mark above.


On the obverse, occupying the entire central field, the image of two soccer players is shown in a set of the game competing for the ball, the face value is inscribed on the left side «2.50 EURO». In the upper semicircle are the inscriptions "CASA DA MOEDA" and "ANDRÉ CARRILHO" as the author of the design. On the right side is the national coat of arms of Portugal.

The upper images correspond to the silver version, below we see those minted in cupronickel and gold.
