O nouă monedă de circulație din Africa de Sud - 14.05.2018

In 2018, 100 years of the birth of Nelson Mandela is celebrated, for which the South African Mint will issue a series of coins dedicated to the aforementioned event. In total there will be four coins that will be issued throughout the year, three coins that reflect different moments in the character's life, and one for circulation with a 5-rand bimetallic and circulating facial.

The 5 rand coin will be the first circulation currency issued in South Africa that has a latent image. Its putting into circulation is announced for next month of July coinciding with the month of birth of Nelson Mandela. 






The reverse of the coin shows a portrait of Nelson Mandela next to a latent image composed of the years 1918 - 2018. On the upper part of the piece is "Nelson Mandela Centenary" and on the lower face "5 Rand".




The obverse represents the national coat of arms, the year of issue, "2018" and "South Africa" ​​written in both English and Xhosa, one of eleven official languages. Since 1996, all South African currencies carry one of the eleven official languages ​​of the country on a rotating basis.
