Yesterday, July 16, 2017, the official newspaper of the Cuban regime Granma, announced the release on July 3 of a bimetallic type coin worth 5 Cuban pesos (€ 0.20) in the Which reproduces the effigy of Antonio Maceo "The Bronze Titan" considered one of the most prominent independence leaders of the second half of the nineteenth century in Latin America.
The currency that is issued has the following characteristics:
Bimetallic coin of 24.70 millimeters in diameter, with silver rim, gold center and rib split groove.
ANVERSUS: In the golden center and in relief the effigy of Antonio Maceo and the denomination in number (5), with the word "PESOS" and in the silver ring the legend "PATRIA O MUERTE", with year of coinage 2016.
REVERSE: In the golden center the national shield and in the silver ring, the legend "REPUBLIC OF CUBA", with the denomination in letters (CINCO PESOS).
