Within the celebrations for the Centenary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, the Mint of Portugal joins this event of enormous sociocultural relevance, with repercussion throughout the Catholic world, emitting a coin with facial of 2.5 euros Dedicated to the above-mentioned ephemeris.

This coin made by Clara Menéres sculpture represents an image of the Virgin inspired by a creation of Joseph Thandim, in which it appears with a rosary and crowned. Also the texts "1917 - 2017 Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima" are shown.

The reverse side shows the coat of arms and the name of the issuing country "Portugal", the face value "€ 2.50", and the mint mark "INCM".

The coin with facial of 2.5 euros can be purchased in two versions with the same design, one coined in cupronickel at face value, already available, and another coin in silver at a price of around 45 euros, soon. In principle a gold version was also announced, but for the moment there is no news about it.
