After the exploration of the cosmos in 2015, the last coin of the series in which it uses in its nucleus two shades of niobium and an external ring of silver, the Mint of Austria undertakes a technological trip in the opposite direction, to The microcosms.

Over the past decade and a half, these coins have been using a combination of silver and niobium to explore fascinating subjects, the journey of scientific discovery presented inmicrocosms is no exception.

The mode of transport for this journey is a rather unexpected one, the butterfly. A clear example lies in the center of niobium in raspberry red tone and green grass on the obverse of the coin. But the voyage of discovery really begins on the reverse side of the coin, where a microscopic view of a butterfly wing is shown at the top center. Moving to the right we travel even deeper with the help of an electron microscope. But that is not the end of the expedition: the lower half of the coin shows a cell, its structure and even its core. What makes these silver niobium coins so special is the fact that their niobium tones arise without the application of color, Simply through refraction of light in a very thin and transparent oxide layer. Microcosms , like all other currencies in the series, really shines with knowledge.
