In July 2019, the Slovak National Bank announced an anonymous tender for the design of the 2 Euro 2020 commemorative coin to celebrate the «20th Anniversary of Slovakia's accession to the OECD». Twenty-eight works by twelve different authors were submitted to the contest. In September 2019, a committee of experts decided that the project presented by Peter Valach was chosen to be minted in the currency.
The design consists of three basic elements (human brain, text and national shield). The composition features a stylized human brain with a structure of technical elements corresponding to printed circuit boards and a circle that symbolizes the microprocessor. The text, alluding to 20 years of Slovakia's accession to the OECD, is shown on the figure of a square. The name of the issuing country, the year of issue and the coat of arms of Slovakia complete the composition.

The other two designs that were finalists by Patrik Kovačovský (left) and Roman Lugár (right) were also shown by the Bank of Slovakia.
