Last June we knew which would be the topics to which Luxembourg would dedicate the two 2 Euro commemorative coins of 2020, "Bicentenary of the birth of Prince Henry" and "75 Years of the signing of the Constitutional Charter of the Organization of Nations United ». Today, thanks to fellow Paul (Euromunter), I can show you the design with which both coins will feature.

Bicentennial of the birth of Prince Henry

Prince William Frederick Henry of the Netherlands (June 13, 1820 - January 14, 1879) was the third son of King William II of the Netherlands and his wife, Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna of Russia. He was born in Soestdijk's palace.

Prince Henry became governor of Luxembourg in 1850, held office until his death in 1879. During his tenure, he worked with the government to launch the reactionary coup of 1856, which consolidated power in the monarchy and the executive. However, most of the changes were reversed by the new constitution of 1868 after the Luxembourg Crisis of 1867, during which the crown tried to sell the Grand Duchy to France.

75 Years of the signing of the constitutional Charter of the United Nations Organization

The Charter of the United Nations is the document through which the United Nations is constituted. Its history dates back to July 12, 1941 with the London Declaration, signed by the representatives of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, in addition to the governments in exile from Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Luxembourg, Norway , the Netherlands, Poland, Yugoslavia and France. This document was in favor of the concentration of peace jointly, establishing the voluntary cooperation of all free peoples as the basis for lasting peace and to avoid the threat of aggression.

The United Nations was officially born on October 24, 1945, after the majority of the 51 signatory Member States of the founding document of the Organization, the UN Charter, ratified it. Currently, 193 States are members of the United Nations, which are represented in the deliberative body, the General Assembly.

As for dates or volume of issuance, nothing is known yet.
