One of the first bullion or investment currencies of the year 2020 to be issued is the ounce of Britannia silver. On October 22, both investors and numismatic collectors will be able to acquire the coin minted by the Royal Mint, with the iconic figure of Britannia.
The Britannia are widely used internationally by private investors, and we can recognize them because on one side they have the face of Queen Elizabeth II of England, and on the other side we can find the representation of Britannia, an ancient term for Roman Britain and female personification of the island.
With the classic Philip Nathan design, the coin features the internationally recognized Britannia figure that stands firm against a powerful storm. His image has symbolized the strength and integrity of Britain since Roman times. The design of the sun's rays behind Britannia, add an element of protection against counterfeiting. The legends presented are “BRITANNIA 2020. 1 OZ. 999 FINE SILVER ”(Britannia 2020 1 Ounce of 999 thousandths of Fine Silver). The name of the design author "Nathan" appears at the bottom.
The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. The inscriptions of the coin, shown around the effigy are, its nominal value of 2 pounds, as well as an abbreviated Latin legend "DG REG FD" (Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensatrix) (Queen for the Grace of God and Defender of the Faith).
