On October 15 we knew the theme that the Bank of Latvia had prepared for its 2-euro commemorative coin of the year 2020, a currency that will be allusive to the typical pottery of Latvia, under the name of "Latgalian Pottery". This piece aims to recognize the ceramics produced in the Latgale region. Today we already know the design that will present the currency and some other data more concerning its issuance.
The coin represents a characteristic piece of Latgalia pottery: the clay candlestick will be the central motif of the coin. The legends will be, in the lower semicircle LATGALES KERAMIKA (Latgalia Pottery), the name of the issuing country LATVIJA (Latvia) and the year of issuance (2020). The design of the new commemorative coin is the work of artist Gundega Rancāne and its engraver will be Jānis Strupulis.
An emission volume of 400,000 pieces is announced that will be issued in spring 2020. Of these 5,000 in BU quality will be presented on coincard and another 7,000 in the same quality, will be part of the euroset with the rest of Latvia's regular circulation coins with date of wedge 2020.
