The first 2-euro commemorative coin that Belgium issues this year, dedicated to the "International Year of Plant Health 2020", has been put up for sale on the official website that markets the numismatic emissions issued by Belgium. Fortunately, this currency will be released later, predictably during the last quarter of the year, so we can choose how we want to include it in our collection.

The inside of the coin shows the official logo of the International Year of Plant Health 2020 (AISV 2020), composed of leaves and the text “INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PLANT HEALTH”. The leaves represent healthy plants as a source of the oxygen we breathe, the food we eat and all life on Earth. This positive image of leaves protected from pests and lethal diseases forms a circle, which represents the world and emphasizes that plant health and protection are of global interest. Plant health is the key to ending hunger, reducing poverty, protecting the environment and boosting economic development.

As the Royal Mint of the Netherlands mints the coins, the Utrecht mint mark, a caduceus, is placed on the right. The mint mark of the director of the Belgian Currency Factory, the coat of arms of the Herzele municipality, is on the left. The country code «BE» and the year 2020 mark are located at the bottom.
The twelve stars of the European flag appear in the circular crown of the coin.

A punctuation on the tables of commemorative 2 euro coins, where the date of issue is indicated. Whenever there is currency for circulation, it will be taken as the date of issue. So do not be surprised if the one I just presented does not appear as issued, it will do so when I know it is in circulation.
