On November 15, 2018, 25 years have passed since the introduction of tenge as the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a currency that came to replace the Russian ruble used until then. The Bank of Kazakhstan has issued, among others, a 100 tenge coin to celebrate the arrival of the new currency. This coin belongs to a series that commemorates the different anniversaries of the tenge, considered in addition to a coin, a symbol of its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
The reverse side of the coin represents the logo of the national bank and the inscription "1993-2018", marking the year of the introduction of the national currency and the year of issue and that of its 25th anniversary. In the center and as main motif a stylized image is shown, alluding to the 25 years of the tenge, where a circulation coin with the national emblem is included.
The obverse shows the coat of arms of Kazakhstan, the face value, 100 tenge, and the text in English and Kazakh, NATIONAL BANK OF KAZAKHSTAN.
