The Bank of Mexico announces the putting into circulation of a coin of 20 pesos (0.86 euros) of bimetallic type, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Implementation of the Marine Plan (1966-2016), whose mission is to assist the population in cases and zones of emergency or disaster. This important task also covers the international sphere, through humanitarian aid that is sent to various countries affected by disasters.

On the back of this coin is shown in the center of the field, as its main motive, an equilateral triangle, an internationally accepted element as a symbol of prevention and protection; inside it the legend "50 years", and behind it, two crossed anchors. The triangle represents the elements of land, air and sea through which the Mexican Navy carries out its functions of support to the civilian population.

The elements of earth are represented by the binomial of a marine and a dog, fundamental for the search and rescue of people; the air elements are represented by a helicopter, by means of which it facilitates the sending of personnel and material and allows the rescue of victims of places of difficult access.

Finally, the sea elements are represented by means of a
logistics support vessel , which is used to transport food, equipment and human resources . The legend "MARINE PLAN" is in semicircle in the upper part , in the left part the year "1966" and in the right part the year "2016" and underneath the mint of the Mint of Mexico, "MO". Finally, in the exergue the denomination with number "$ 20" is shown.

 

The obverse of this commemorative coin presents the National Coat of Arms surrounded by the legend "UNITED STATES OF MEXICO". It is legal, so it can be used to make any type of payment.

Although the date of the present stamp in the currency is 2106, it has been put into circulation officially on November 23, 2018.

The Marine Plan is a civil protection instrument that, for just
over five decades, naval forces have been applying in cases
of emergency. The Marine Plan foresees actions and protocols for
personnel deployment, relief actions and forms of coordination
with other entities, including social communication modalities.

This Plan, which transcends borders has been applied in other countries affected by disasters, has allowed a rapid and effective response of this institution and an orderly collaboration between the Navy and other agencies.

This coin complements the series of commemorative pieces that the Bank of Mexico has put into circulation in recent years alluding to the invaluable tasks of the armed forces in favor of the nation, which include the centenary coins of the Mexican Army in 2013, the Centennial of the Heroic Gestation of Veracruz in 2014, the Centennial of the Mexican Air Force in 2015 and the fiftieth anniversary of the implementation of the DN-III-E Plan last year.
