In 2018 it is 40 years since the beginning of the reform process in China, the reform was formally approved at a meeting of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party held in December 1978, which opened a new stage in the orientation of the policy economic development of the Asian giant that has taken it from being one of the poorest countries in the world to the largest contributor to global growth.
To celebrate this historic event that has lifted some 800 million people out of poverty, the Bank of China issues a circulating bimetallic coin with a 10-yuan facial that will be put into circulation on December 28, among others.
The reverse side of the coin shows the number 40 as the main motif in the center, below it is the face value of 10 yuan and below are some peony flowers, all framed by fireworks. At the top of the main scene, the phrase "Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening" is read.
