A color representation of a poppy and a graphic representation of 11.11.11 adorn Australia's most recent currency, issued today, this $ 2 coin is issued to commemorate the Armistice Centennial that ended with the First World War.

For a century, Australians have marked November 11 as the anniversary of the First World War Armistice. After World War II, Armistice Day became the Day of Remembrance, a time to honor all Australians who have fallen in wars and armed conflicts.

The poppy symbolizes the loss, love and sacrifice of bloodshed. For a long time it has been part of the Day of Remembrance, the ritual that marks the Armistice of November 11, 1918, and this year marks 100 years since the weapons were silent.

The obverse shows, like all 2-dollar coins, the portrait and name of the queen "Elizabeth II", the name of the issuing country "Australia" and the year of issue "2018".

Apart from the circulation currency of which 2 million pieces are issued, there is a version for collectors, presented in portfolio (40,000), in which the difference is that the latter has a mintmark.
