Crimean Tatars

The deportation of the Crimean Tatar people began on May 18, 1944. The Soviet regime accused the Crimean Tatar people collaboration with Nazi Germany during World War II. In total, 200,000 people from the indigenous population of Crimea, including 183,000 Crimean Tatars were deported.

On March 20, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution to guarantee the rights of the Crimean Tatar people as part of the Ukrainian state, having recognized the Crimean Tatar people as an indigenous people of Ukraine.
