The Mint of Finland, Suomen Rahapaja, began in 2015 a new series of bimetallic coins, with face of 5 euros, dedicated to the country's most popular sports. The coin series consists of nine pieces that are issued between 2015-2016 and have the same characteristics as the three previous series devoted to their regions.
The fifth coin, dedicated to ice hockey, was presented at today, but will not be issued until 14 January 2016. This and all of the series are available in quality BU and Proof.
Ice hockey is one of the most popular sports in Finland, this sport is practiced in the country since the late 19th century.
The national hockey team ice Finland won its first international success in the early 1960. Since then, the nation has celebrated the success of the national team on many occasions.The greatest achievements of the Finnish men's national team, known as the Lions, including two world championships and won several medals at the Olympics.
In addition, this year's tournament World Championship U-20 ice hockey is organized in Helsinki on December 26, 2015 to January 5, 2016. During the celebration of the championship, spectators can purchase currency prior to Official issue, scheduled for January 14.
The obverse of the coin two hockey players, fighting for the disk are represented. The back, which is identical for the entire series, shows the curve of an athletics stadium, its track and a crowd of people cheering.
