O nouă monedă comemorativă din Portugalia - 30.07.2018

The day before yesterday, July 25, the second coin of 2 euros commemorative of Portugal was put into circulation in 2018, the coin is dedicated to the "250 Years of the Botanical Garden of Ajuda". Created by the Marquis of Pombal in the year of 1768, in its beginnings it was born as a land with large crops of fruits and vegetables at the service of the royal palace, but over time it served to house numerous exotic species, designed and designed so that it could be maintain, study and collect as many species of the plant world as possible. 







The motif shows a very old dragon tree (Dracaena) which is found in the Botanical Garden of Ajuda and which is a symbol of this garden. The Botanical Garden of Ajuda is a unit of technological support of the University of Agronomy. It works as an educational and research infrastructure, but it is also open to the public. It was the first botanical garden in Portugal, conceived to preserve, study and collect as many plant species as possible. In the upper part of the motif, from left to right, in a semicircle, the inscription "250 YEARS JARDIM BOTNICO DA AJUDA" appears. At the bottom, from left to right, in a semicircle, is the text "PORTUGAL
2018". Just below the image of the trees, on the left, are the initials of the artist «J. FAZENDA »and, on the right, the mint mark« INCM ».
The twelve stars of the European flag appear in the circular crown of the coin.

Issuance volume: 520,000 in total (10,000 BU and 10,000 Proof)
Date of issue: July 25

Of the 520,000 coins issued, 500,000 are distributed in the Banks of Portugal, the rest are put up for sale in wallets, 10,000 in BU quality and another 10,000 in Proof quality.
