On March 26, the Bank of Ukraine issues a coin with a facial of 5 grivnas minted on an alpaca alloy, also known as German silver, to commemorate the "100th anniversary of the arrival of the Red Cross in Ukraine". The Red Cross arrived in Ukraine on April 18, 1918, during the First World War. The first task was to help refugees and prisoners, the care of disabled and orphaned children, the fight against hunger and epidemics, the organization of hospitals and food points.

The reverse side of the coin has as its main motif the emblem of the Red Cross, on which is represented a branch of Viburnum from which its red berries are detached. The years 1918 - 2018 as the year of establishment and its centenary, complete the center of the coin. In the outline of the coin you can read: Foundation of the Institution - Red Cross of Ukraine.

On the obverse of the coin, on a stylized cross-shaped background, the principles and values that govern the Red Cross are listed: "Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Character, Unity and Universality". As usual, in all Ukrainian currencies, the national coat of arms of Ukraine, the year of issue, the face value and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine are also represented.
