The Mint of Finland, Suomen Rahapaja, began in 2015 a new series of bimetallic coins, with face 5 euros, dedicated to the country's most popular sports. The coin series consists of nine pieces that are issued between 2015 and 2016 and have the same characteristics as the previous three series dedicated to their regions and the current series of Presidents.
The ninth and final coin collection dedicated to Athletics has been filed today, but will not be issued until next July 6. This and all of the series are available in grades BU and Proof.
The summer of 2016 will be a good time for athletics fans. The European Championships in Athletics will be held in Amsterdam from 6 to 10 July, and 5 to August 21 is celebrated the 28th edition of the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where the Athletics is one of the sports by excellence.
The obverse of this coin with a nominal value of five euros, represented a javelin thrower and an arm throwing a disc. The reverse, which is identical for the entire series, shows the curve of an athletics stadium, its track and a crowd of cheering people.
