Description and Symbolism
The coin’s design is deeply meaningful and seeks to convey a message of resilience and unity in the most difficult times. The coin celebrates the steadfastness of the Ukrainian military and their tireless fight to protect Ukraine’s freedom. The coin’s motto, “ТРИМАЙМО СТРІЙ” (“Let’s hold the line!”), is a call for unity and commitment to continue fighting, not only on the battlefront, but also in the civilian arena.
The obverse of the coin depicts Ukrainian defenders, joining their hands in a collective handshake symbolizing cohesion and unity before battle. This gesture highlights the readiness to defend the homeland and the strength that emerges from collaboration and sacrifice. In the background, a topographic map of the conflict zone is shown, with the defense lines and the directions of combat operations, which visually form a trident, the iconic national symbol of Ukraine. On the right edge of the coin are the distinctive elements: the legend “УКРАЇНА” (Ukraine), the face value of the coin (5 UAH), the graphic symbol of the hryvnia, the year of issue (2025) and the small coat of arms of Ukraine. On the left side, there is the mark of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The reverse continues the same theme of unity and strength. Soldiers are shown moving forward with determination, symbolizing the confidence and courage of those defending the country. At the top of the coin, the motto “ТРИМАЙМО СТРІЙ” is displayed, accompanied by stylized images of a military helicopter, an airplane and a drone, representing the power and capability of the Ukrainian armed force. Behind the soldiers, there are the silhouettes of civilians who also contribute to victory, through their daily work, support and donations to strengthen the war effort and ensure a free future for Ukraine.

The coin's designer, Andrii Sahach , has managed to create a design that reflects not only the current situation in Ukraine, but also the values and spirit of the Ukrainian people.
