The Austrian mint Münzen Österreich has put on sale its coin dedicated to the Easter of 2017 in which the figure of the lamb is its main reason. The coin can be acquired at face value, 5 euros, in its version coined in copper or at a higher price in its silver version presented in the wallet.
Widely used in ecclesiastical art, for its youthful innocence, exuberance and vulnerability, lamb has long been a symbol of spring, of birth, of life itself.
In Christian iconography, the lamb symbolizes Jesus Christ. It often comes with the flag of victory as an attribute to symbolize the resurrection of Christ - the Lamb of God. Above a realistic illustration of a lamb in the foreground, on a coin face, a representation of the Lamb of God is shown.
The Obverse of the nine-sided coin shows the coat of arms of the nine federal provinces of Austria.
