The famous French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has designed for the Monnaie de Paris a series of coins in which he gives his particular vision of France. This series of coins follows the pattern of coins for sale at their face value as those of previous years, in which the protagonist were the Little Prince or Asterix.
In total 29 pieces of which 24 will be 10 euros in silver, 4 of 50 euros in silver (2 of them colored) and 1 of 200 euros in gold. All of them are put on sale at face value for the French mint in two parts, the first one already available from 20 March and the second from next September 25.
