The German Federal Government has today officially decided to dedicate a 2 euro commemorative coin to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Bundesrat. The coin pays tribute to the Federal Council, one of the five permanent constitutional bodies of the Federal Republic of Germany, whose foundation celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2019. This coin is part of the series started in 2006 dedicated to its "Länder" States and has as an objective to bring the federal structure of Germany closer to the citizens of Europe. The Bundesrat is the representation chamber of the Federated States, with headquarters in Berlin, which acts as a link between the federal government and the different states.

The coin designed by Michael Otto de Rodenbach, shows the building of the Bundesrat in a detailed representation in which first appears his garden. The song of the German commemorative coin of 2 euros contains the legend "Einigkeit Und Recht Und Freiheit" (Right and Freedom Unit) and a stylized German eagle.

The announced date of emission is January of 2019 and its volume of emission, the habitual one, 30 million pieces, divided in its five mints: Berlin (To), Hamburg (J), Karlsruhe (G), Munich (D) and Stuttgart (F).
