Icon of the struggle for women's rights, Simone Veil left us on June 30, 2017 at 89 years of age. She was the first woman elected president of the European Parliament, in 1979. Simone Veil, is considered a figure of feminism after legalizing abortion in France in 1975, when she held the position of Minister of Health. As a token of recognition, France will issue a 2-euro commemorative coin dedicated to this great woman who also had to live in her flesh the tragedy of the Nazi Holocaust.

Thanks to the partners Euromunter (Holland) and Wojtax (Germany) I can show you the image that will be represented on the coin.

The design shows a portrait of Simone Veil, in which underneath it appears the number with which she was deported to the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz (78659). In the background the interior of the European Parliament is represented. Complete the composition number 1975, the year in which the decriminalization of abortion in France was voted, his name next to the years in which he was born and died (1927 - 2017). Finally the letters RF (French Republic) and the mint mark.

The date of issue is scheduled for June 29, the volume of issue is unknown for now.
