In order to finish with the series of Portuguese coins called "Queens of Europe" whose objective is to remember Princesses of Portugal that reigned in Europe, the Portuguese ceca INCM has put on sale the piece that completes the series, with dedication for which it was queen Consort of Spain, D. Maria Bárbara de Bragança, as wife of Fernando VI.
Designed
by the sculptor Rui Vasquez, the coin represents the interchange of
princesses, a ceremony that took place in the middle of the Caya river
between the cities of Elvas and Badajoz in a grand wooden palace-bridge
built for the occasion Celebrated the double marriage between the
children of D. João V of Portugal - D. Maria Barbara and D. José, with
the children of Felipe V of Spain - Fernando VI and D. Mariana Vitória.
