On the occasion of the centenary of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture of Ukraine, the Bank of Ukraine issued on December 7, two coins with facial 2 and 5 grivnas minted one alpaca and the other in silver, both with the same design .
Founded 18 December 1917 on the initiative of prominent artists at a time of great hope and difficulty for Ukraine, the main objective of the first institution of higher education in Ukraine was to encourage an art school based on the traditions of national culture and worldwide.
On the back of the coin is an image of the building of the academy, in which are marked the years 1917 and 2017, with the inscriptions: 100 YEARS (above) and NATIONAL ACADEMY OF ART AND EDUCATIONAL ARCHITECTURE (below).
On the obverse, as a central motif in the figure of an octagon, the goddess Minerva is represented in profile, in Roman mythology Minerva was considered as the goddess of wisdom. As usual, in all Ukrainian currencies, the national coat of arms of Ukraine, the year of issue, the face value and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine are also represented.
