The Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe is preparing a monetary reform with the consequent devaluation of the currency, with the elimination of three zeros, which will lead to the issuance of new coins and notes produced in England, which will go into circulation on January 1, 2018 and have already been submitted by their authorities.
Within the framework of this monetary reform, the Central Bank wants to make known the rich biodiversity of flora and fauna in Sao Tome and Principe, divulging with its coins and notes the most representative species that populate the country using them as a way to attract tourism to their islands.
In the image above we see the new family of five coins plus the common obverse, in which in each of its values appears a different bird.
In the image below the current coin series appears. The design of the obverse of the old and new series is the same.
As I said, not only will the coins be exchanged, so will the tickets, dedicated equally to the native fauna, with special emphasis on their butterflies, all the banknotes represent a variety of these on one side, the other animal.
The information you complete with a poster where you can see in more detail these new coins and tickets, and a video.
