1. Carol I Specimen 2 Lei 1881-V SP65 NGC, Vienna mint, KM15, Stamb-22. Unlisted in proof or specimen form, and a great rarity thus, with surfaces that hold evenly distributed reflectivity in the fields and delicate cameo-producing frost on the raised surfaces. Careful storage over the decades has resulted in a light sprinkling of multicolored patina that tends to concentrate in somewhat linear fashion. To date, the only special issue of this type certified by NGC and tied with one other business strike at the Gem "65" grade.

2. Ferdinand I gold 50 Lei 1922 MS62+ NGC, KM-XM3, Fr-11. An immense example that commemorates the coronation of Ferdinand I, presenting large, intricately-styled design illustrations and lustrous, citrus-gold coloration. The devices on this issue express a flattened appearance, even when fully-struck, and the surrounding fields contain a scattering of micro-surface abrasions that are fairly commonplace for the type. Rarely-offered in the marketplace, and particularly choice in this desired certified quality.

5. Carol II gold 100 Lei 1940 MS60 NGC, Bucharest mint, KM-XM12, Fr-19, Stamb-111. A celebrated 20th century rarity in the Romanian series, struck to commemorate Carol II's tenth year of rule and highly-coveted at this level of certification. As is seen on most survivors, a melange of limiting marks scatter the expansive fields and lightly cover the design illustrations as well. However, residual luster still casts a warm glow across the features and the eye is rather satisfied with the amount of strong detail that has managed to avoid friction. For the collector looking to procure a Mint State example of this incredibly scarce issue, this marks the perfect opportunity to fulfill that goal.

6. Gabriel Bethlen Taler 1621-KB MS61 NGC, Kremnitz mint, KM134, Dav-4710, Resch-81. Mottled with steel-gray tone and accented by delicate russet and teal color that haloes the legends, this incredibly-detailed coin has fared far better than most from this two-year series. The large expanses contain few marks for the grade and the design illustrations are evenly-struck with strong definition still remaining. While other examples have certified with a higher technical quality, this truly Mint State offering is every bit as worthy to stand amongst them. Rare, especially at this level, and highly desirable as such.

7. Gabriel Bethlen gold Ducat 1618 MS63 NGC, Klausenburg mint, KM102, Fr-350, Resch-22. An outstanding designation for this rare issue, featuring the head of Bethlen with a feathered fur cap and his coat-of-arms. The surfaces are pleasingly choice without any distractions, and the designs are well-rendered for the type. Scarce and highly desirable in this Choice Mint State format.

Gabriel Bethlen is most notable as the Prince of Transylvania who ruled during the Thirty Years' War and led an insurgence against the Habsburgs in Hungary.

9. Karl VI gold 1/6 Ducat 1728-NB MS65 NGC, Nagybanya mint, KM307.1. An outstanding representative with a blush of coppery color that mingles throughout the vibrant, golden surfaces. The design motifs are expertly struck, retaining highpoint definition throughout, and the fields are resoundingly clear of any mentionable marks. A total Gem in an incomparable technical quality, and a solid example of trade coinage from the era.
