Within the series of currencies that Ukraine is dedicating to its Regions (Oblast), during this month of December we have had the emission of two new pieces, dedicated to the Cities of Kiev and Sevastopol (both are cities and at the same time regions). With 5 grivnas facials, they are bimetallic coins. In these coins and in all of the series on one of their faces, characteristic images of the area are represented, such as monuments, emblematic buildings or industries from which their people live, and in the other the shield of the region is shown.

Kiev
Dedicated to the capital of Ukraine, one of the oldest cities in Europe, located on both banks of the Dnieper River. Since ancient times, the city has had such magical power that many prominent people declared themselves in love with it. Today, Kiev is the political, socio-economic, transport, educational and scientific center of the country, a separate administrative-territorial unit in Ukraine and administrative center of the Kiev region.

On the obverse of the coin, a small emblem of the state of Ukraine, the circular inscriptions, is shown on the top: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (top), FIVE GRIVNAS (bottom), on the right the logo of the Bank Mint National of Ukraine; in the center there is a stylized composition that symbolizes Kiev: the bridge of the park is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Dnieper River, which joins the central part of Kiev with the area of the park; to the right, the Cathedral of Santa Sofia and its bell tower; in the center is the building of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine, to whose right is the year of issue of the 2018 currency; The Magdeburg Column is shown on the left, the coat of arms of Kiev (15th century) and a chestnut branch (symbol of Kiev) complete the composition.

On the back of the coin is Archangel Michael, patron of Kiev, whose image is found in the emblems of the principality, province and city of Kiev; the inscriptions CITY OF KIEV (above) and some decorative elements (below) complete the design of the coin.

Sebastopol
Dedicated to the city located in the southwestern part of the Crimean peninsula. The city has a long history that goes back to the depths of ancient civilizations. The sanctuary of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the place of the baptism of Prince Vladimir of Kiev, according to a version, is also found in the territory of the current Chersonese. In 2014, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol were occupied by the Russian Federation. The forced annexation of Crimea is not recognized by the Ukrainian state and the international community, who consider that the peninsula is temporarily occupied.

On the obverse of the coin are the semicircular inscriptions UKRAINE (above), FIVE GRIVNAS (below), in the center appears the state emblem of Ukraine, under which is the year of issue of the 2018 currency; On the right is the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the back of the coin the inscription CITY OF SEVASTOPOL is shown at the top; in the center a composition that symbolizes the city: a sailboat (above), under which one of the symbols of the city, a bridge built at the beginning of the 20th century, an anchor cross, a cannon and a pyramid of nuclei (a the left), on which are the columns of Chersonese; Below are decorative elements in the form of bunches of grapes with their leaves.
