Continuing with the new Vatican releases to be issued on 13 October, I present the currencies of 20 and 50 euros minted in gold, dedicated both to the Pontifical Shrine of the House of Loreto.

In the celebrative three-year cycle of the pontifical delegations, the Numismatic Office dedicates this year's series of golden coins 20 and 50 euros to the Shrine Pontifical Holy House of Loreto defined by John Paul II as "the first shrine of international scope dedicated to Virgin and true Marian heart of Christendom ".

The 20 euro coin, made by the artist Gabriella Titotto reproduces the statue of the Virgin and Child found in the niche on the altar of the Holy House of Loreto with the characteristic jeweled mantle, the dalmatic, and the dark face typical of old images. The original statue, the fourteenth century, was destroyed in a fire and replaced by desire of Pope Paul VI made with an identical cedar of Lebanon from the Vatican Gardens.

The currency of 50 euros, the work of Cristina De Giorgi, offers instead an external view of the basilica, a splendid example of Gothic - Renaissance, whose construction began in 1468 and was the result of collaboration of famous artists such as Bramante and Antonio and Giuliano da Sangallo.
