Launched in 2021, The Royal Mint's 'Myths and Legends' series of coins began with a series of three coins celebrating the famous tales of Robin Hood. The archer himself and Lady Marian appeared on the first two coins in the collection, and now the third coin in the series completes the trio of legendary characters with Little John, the trusty sidekick who is always ready to fight foes and follow. These pieces minted in both one ounce of gold or one ounce of silver, are bullion or investment type coins, their sale price fluctuates according to the price of metals.
For the designs for the Robin Hood-inspired series, Jody Clark turned to the Sherwood Forest landscape to represent different aspects of the characters. On this coin, the strength and steadfastness of the trees surround and symbolize Little John, who stands boldly at the center of the design.
The obverse of both coins shows the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of England, also by Jody Clark.

Myths and Legends Series – Robin Hood
The collection first explored the story of Robin Hood, beginning with the legend itself, then focused on his resourceful and adventurous companion Lady Marian. Sometimes described as a woman of high birth, but always a woman of the people, Lady Marian is said to have gathered valuable information that served Robin Hood and his band of men on their adventures through Sherwood Forest. And this last one dedicated to Robin Hood's trusted companion, Little John.
