Some of the most beautiful and affordable collections of the last 20 years are the two that have been broadcast in the United States under the names of "State Quarters", between 1999 and 2009, and the second, "America the Beutiful Quarters", between 2010 to 2021. Both series are made up of 25-cent circulation coins.
Today, thanks to my friend Jorge Herráez, I am going to leave you with a catalog made by him that has no less than 130 pages, where an exhaustive review of both collections and all the coins that compose it is given, he even presents us the different mints in charge of coin the coins and their history. The catalog is a luxury and essential for those of you who have made these collections, and for those who have not, an opportunity to get to know them and perhaps start it. They are highly recommended and can also be used to get started in the world of numismatic collecting.
Before leaving the catalog, I will tell you a little about each series.
State Quarters
Initiated in 1999, the 50 State Quarters collection of the United States Mint was an initiative that for 10 years honored each of the nation's states in the order in which they ratified the Constitution or were admitted to the United States. the Union. The designs dedicated to the states are displayed on the reverse of the 25-cent coins, while the obverse design features President George Washington.
After this series, another six coins were issued, in 2009, in honor of the District of Columbia and the American island areas of Puerto Rico, Guam, the United States Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands, which we can consider to be complete the Serie.
America the Beautiful Quarters
In 2010, the United States Mint began issuing 56 quarter-dollar coins with designs that represent national parks and emblematic places of the country, located in each of the states and territories that comprise it, giving the name to the America the Beautiful Quarters series. The common obverse of all the coins show President George Washington, in a version restored by John Flanagan in 2010 from the original portrait used in 1932 in the Washington Quarter.
Coin catalog State Quarters and America the Beautiful Quarters
As I said, the catalog is the work of Jorge Herráez and I received it in my email along with the following text: «Good morning, I'm Jorge Herráez, a reader of your website. I am sending you a guide that I have put together on the US State Quarters and America the Beutiful Quarters coin collections. If it seems convenient you can publish it so that other collectors can consult it. "
The catalog is in English, but it serves as a guide perfectly.
