This single, straight-graded example offers exquisite detail to the firmly struck devices and a gentle wave of coloration that vitalizes the dark, copper surfaces.

Ferdinand I gold Medallic 20 Lei 1922-Dated (1928/1929)-(a) MS61 NGC, London mint, KM-XM1, Fr-10, Schäffer/Stambuliu-082. One-year commemorative intended to mark the 5th anniversary of Ferdinand's reign in 1927 but delayed due to the King's untimely death that year and not actually struck until 1928/1929. Lustrous honey surfaces make this quite attractive for the lower registers of Mint State, perhaps held back by the most innocuous of rim dings.

The lemon-gold satiny luster bears the usual handling marks for the type, limiting the grade to the lower rungs of Mint State. In fact, among the almost thirty examples certified at NGC, only one has attained a Choice designation.
