On April 5, the Bank of Russia issued a 3 ruble silver coin, belonging to the series called "The Cosmos", to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the first space flight by a female cosmonaut.
June 16, 1963 was the day the Vostok-6 spacecraft manned by Valentina Tereshkova was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome into Earth orbit. Tereshkova remained in orbit for almost three days and remains the only woman in the world to have flown into space on a solo mission.
On the reverse of the coin we can see a portrait of Valentina Tereshkova in a space suit, and a stylized image of a seagull, both designed in relief, on a background of images of the Earth, a starry sky and abstract lines that symbolize a space flight. We also see the inscriptions: “16–19 июня 1963 г.” (June 16–19, 1963) under the portrait, with a decorative line below, and “60-ЛЕТИЕ ПЕРВОГО ПОЛЕТА В КОСМОС ЖЕН ЩИНЫ-КОСМОНАВТА” (60th Anniversary of the first space flight of a female cosmonaut.) around the main motif.
On the other hand, on the obverse of the coin there is a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions 'российская ферациeno' (Russian Federation) and 'банк thóper (3 RUBLES), the year of issue' 2023 g.' (2023), the chemical symbol for metal according to Mendeleev's Periodic Table of Elements, the mintmark of the Saint Petersburg Mint, and the fine metal content.
