Known as the King of Animals throughout Asia, the tiger has no natural enemies, but many admirers. Since time immemorial, people have marveled at the tiger's imposing appearance and natural beauty, which are accentuated by the red Swarovski crystals that form the tiger's eyes on the third coin in the "Eyes of the World" series. This color symbolizes strength and energy, but for such a powerful animal, the tiger is also known as a peaceful creature despite being willing to fight whenever the opportunity arises.

Images of the tiger abound in the cultural history of Asia. The predator is credited with power and strength in all its forms. In China, where the Year of the Tiger begins on February 1, 2022, the animal has always been an emblem of strength and bravery. Also in Hinduism it plays a very symbolic role, since the goddess Durga is usually represented riding a tiger.

Always alert, silent and solitary, the tiger comes out mainly at dusk or at night in search of prey, often wandering for hours. Unlike lions, for whom rivers and lakes are a barrier, tigers love water and are excellent swimmers.

Deep in the bamboo thickets of the jungle, a haunting blur of light and shadow makes a fleeting appearance. But so perfectly camouflaged by its magnificent stripes, the tiger remains unrecognizable. The obverse of the coin features a tiger moving through a thicket of bamboo, the outer ring of which is adorned in a mandala shape, this geometric configuration of symbols has magical significance in the rituals of Buddhism and Hinduism.

The reverse is totally dominated by the mighty head of a tiger, whose face is adorned with punctate scars and finally with finely polished Swarovski crystals.
