I. CELTIC, Lower Danube. Geto-Dacians. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.75 g, 1 h), imitating an obverse of C. Naevius Balbus and a reverse of Lucius Appuleius Saturninus, after 83-82 BC. Laureate head of Jupiter to right; behind, NC (sic!). Rev. L•SATVRΛ Saturn driving quadriga to right, holding reins in his left hand and harpa in his right; below the horses, X between two pellets. Cf. CNG E-Auction 376 (2016), 285 (cruder style). For prototype, cf. Crawford 382/1 (obverse) and 317/1 (reverse). An interesting and attractive piece. Very fine. Starting price:50 CHF. II. MOESIA. Istros. Circa 340/30-313 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 5.44 g, 12 h). Two facing male heads side by side, one upright and the other inverted. Rev. IΣTPIH Sea eagle standing left on dolphin; below, uncertain monogram. Cf. HGC 3, 1800 ff. Slightly porous and with a few minor scratches, otherwise, extremely fine. Starting price:50 CHF. III. MOESIA. Kallatis. 3rd-2nd centuries BC. AE (Bronze, 22 mm, 8.00 g, 12 h), Poly..., magistrate. Head of Dionysos right, wearing wreath of ivy. Rev. ΠΟ/ΛY within wreath; above, KAΛΛA. AMNG I 221. Attractive green patina. Very fine. Starting price:25 CHF. Hammer price:70 CHF.
 
 


 
IV. KINGS OF PONTOS. Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 120-63 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.30 g, 1 h), First Mithradatic War issue, in the name and types of Lysimachos of Thrace. Kallatis, circa 88-86. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; in inner left field, HPO; on throne, KAΛ; in exergue, trident. Callataÿ p. 140 (D6/R?). Struck from the usual somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, nearly extremely fine. Starting price:750 CHF. Hammer price:1300 CHF.
 
 


 
V. MOESIA. Istros. Circa 340/30-313 BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 4.76 g, 9 h). Two facing male heads side by side, one upright and the other inverted. Rev. IΣTPIH Sea eagle standing left on dolphin; to right, below eagle, H; below dolphin, Δ and pellet. AMNG I -. Dima Subgroup III, 4. Nicely toned. VI. MOESIA. Istros. Late 5th century BC. AE (Bronze, 10 mm, 0.83 g). Wheel with four spokes. Rev. ΙΣΤ. AMNG I 534. SNG BM Black Sea 224. Light cleaning scratches, otherwise, extremely fine. IΣTPIH Sea eagle standing left on dolphin; below dolphin, ΦΥ. AMNG I 425. Dima Subgroup VI, 1. Cleaned and slightly porous, otherwise, very fine. From a European collection, formed before 2005. VIII. MOESIA. Istros. AE (Bronze, 13 mm, 1.20 g, 11 h), circa 110-75/50. Radiate facing head of Helios. Rev. ΙΣΤΡ - ΔΙ[Ο] Sea eagle standing left on dolphin. AMNG I 466. BMC -. SNG BM Black Sea -. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG Stancomb - (cf. 195-196). Rare. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
