The Austrian Mint will issue its annual Easter coin on March 6, with which it announces the approach of spring and with it the metamorphosis of nature and the benefits of walking through it.
The Austrian mint invites us to leave winter behind with the help of a coin that brings us closer to spring, and shows us the way to get there. As you walk towards the sun, you become more receptive to the beauty of nature and with each step you come closer to yourself. Walking is very good for us, so why not encourage a friend or loved one to go out on a trail, a trail that could very well be the one depicted on the coin.
But where does the path take us? Will it take us even deeper into the forest? Or will it get us out of it? What will the next climb bring us? Will the path take us up the mountain before guiding us safely into the valley? The road winds back and forth, up and down, as if it doesn't know where it's going. He does it out of pure modesty, respect for nature and caution. It is also kind to those who walk through it. It moves us forward, taking its time and giving us time to linger, stop and marvel. It shows us the world and its big little secrets.
The meaning of walking is not only measured by where it takes us. The very act of walking is significant in itself, energizing the body and mind, and guiding the lost and confused. Walking changes those who walk. It helps us see that the path of life is not something irrevocable, but rather part of an ongoing process, a kind of pilgrimage toward happiness and satisfaction. We may not always know exactly where it takes us, but it takes us there in the end.
The path on the reverse of the coin climbs to the picturesque Falkenstein Church, built into the rock in a forest near St Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut region of central Austria.
The coats of arms of Austria's nine federal provinces appear on the obverse of the coin and give the coin its nine-sided shape.
This coin with a face value of 5 euros, like all those issued by Austria in this value, can be purchased in two versions, the copper one with a face value and the silver one, presented in the portfolio you see below, at a price of 19. €80 (Prices in Austria).
