A new and spectacular series of coins is launched called "Five Tiger Generals", a popular denomination in Chinese culture for the five main military commanders who serve a single lord. Although the term does not appear in Chinese historical records and is not used officially, it has been used extensively in literature, folklore, and popular culture texts.
General Guan Yu is in charge of inaugurating this new series. This numismatic masterpiece features an incredible design, with raised details and a glossy Black Proof quality finish.
Guan Yu lived during the turbulent period called the Three Kingdoms, according to the novel of the same name. She wielded an ax-like weapon called the Green Dragon Crescent Blade, and has been immortalized with it on horseback.
The reverse of the coin shows the wonderful high-relief image of Guan Yu riding his horse, about to strike the enemy with his weapon. On the bottom of the reverse, the inscriptions are shown: "FIVE TIGER GENERALS", name of the coin series, "GUAN YU", name of the General on this piece, and "關羽", his name written in Chinese.
