The Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany will issue a 20-euro coin dedicated to commemorating the 125th on February 9. Bertolt Brecht's Birth Anniversary. Said piece will be added to the already issued stamp, which is also dedicated to the same theme.

Berthold Eugen Friedrich Brecht, born on February 10, 1898 in Augsburg, was one of the most influential German-speaking authors and theater actors of the 20th century, thanks to his plays, poems, novels, prose texts, film scripts, and writings. . His language was unmistakable in its witty combination of poetry, directness, and form. In the theater he loved to experiment, and he influenced the art of acting throughout the world. Brecht is a political artist; He wanted to show that the world can be changed.

Brecht worked as a director and playwright in Munich and Berlin. His biggest stage success of the 1920s was "The Threepenny Opera." In 1933, Brecht, who was on a Nazi wanted list as a communist sympathizer, had to leave Germany. He lived in exile with his family and his employees in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the US and Switzerland. During this time, his great works such as "The Life of Galileo", "The Good Man of Sezuan" and "The Chalk Circle of the Caucasus" were written.

On the coin we can see the design of Katrin Pannicke. Brecht's image appears as a drawing, thoughtful and relaxed. The cheerful depiction of the portrait is complemented by the motto "Ändere die Welt: sie braucht es!" (Change the world: it needs it!). Just as Brecht embarked on new artistic paths, the coin's design chooses a visual language that is both life-affirming and reserved.

The smooth edge of the coin contains the inscription: "DAS SCHICKSAL DES MENSCHEN IST DER MENSCH" (THE DESTINY OF MAN IS MAN).

On the value side, a stylized eagle, the inscription “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the face value “20 EURO”, the year of issue “2023”, the twelve European stars and the metal and its purity “SILBER 925” are shown.

The coin has been minted in sterling silver (Ag 925), and reproduced in two qualities, BU and Proof. The BU mint quality coin will be put up for sale at its face value (20 euros). The Proof-quality coin is issued at a higher selling price, yet to be determined. The total issue volume will be around one million pieces.
