There are countries that find it difficult to find reasons that are really important to put on their currencies, especially microstates. On many occasions they issue coins that have little or nothing to do with the country, a clear example can be San Marino that mostly tends to join celebrations and commemorations of other states, mainly choosing reasons related to Italy, due to its proximity, its culture possesses strong influences and similarities.The last coins that San Marino has just issued, yesterday, December 3, if we can say that they have an important reason for celebration for San Marinos, and that is that in the last Tokyo 2020 Olympics they achieved no less than three medals, becoming the smallest country to win an Olympic medal. With less than 34,000 inhabitants and the participation of only five athletes, they achieved a silver and two bronze medals, a real feat.
5 euro coin - Bronze medal in wrestling Tokyo 2020
On August 5, 2021, Myles Nazem Amine Mularoni won the bronze medal in wrestling, 86 kg category, at the Tokyo Olympics, a memorable edition for San Marino. The Blue and White fighter snatched the medal from Indian Punia, winning the play-off for bronze in the final minutes with the score 4-2.
The reverse of the coin depicts two athletes during a wrestling match, in memory of the bronze medal victory.

On July 29, 2021, 61 years after her first appearance at the Rome Olympics, Alessandra Perilli made history for Blue and White sport by winning the bronze medal in the women's trench shooting final at the Tokyo Olympics. Perilli herself, partnering with Gian Marco Berti, on July 31, 2021, won the silver medal in the final for the gold medal against Spain in the mixed team mode.
