For many, the coin that I present to you today will help them discover a little-known musical instrument. The Fujara, a very long flute with three holes traditionally played by Slovak shepherds, is considered an integral element of the traditional culture of central Slovakia. The fujara is not only a musical instrument, but also an object of great artistic value due to its very elaborate ornamentation.
The obverse represents a man playing the fujara, within a space delimited by the edge of the coin and by the left and lower edges of a decorative frame. To the left of the frame is the name of the issuing country 'SLOVENSKO', divided into three lines. Below the name are the face and the currency of the coin «100» and «EURO», one on top of the other, and below, always to the left of the frame, the coat of arms of Slovakia. The left and right edges of the design feature popular decorative elements. The year of issue "2021" is shown at the bottom of the design.
The image on the reverse consists of two details of a decorated fujara, located in a space delimited by the edge of the coin and by the right and bottom edges of a decorative frame. At the bottom left of this space appear the stylized letters "PV", in reference to the designer of the coin, Peter Valach, and the Kremnica mint mark (Mincovňa Kremnica), consisting of the letters "MK" placed between two dies. To the right of the frame is the inscription "NEHMOTNÉ KULTÚRNE DEDIČSTVO" (intangible cultural heritage) together with two decorative elements. The word "FUJARA" is inscribed at the bottom of the design.
