We are going to know the design of another of the most anticipated 2 euro commemorative coins of 2022. After knowing the reason to which this coin to be issued by Lithuania would be dedicated, quite a lot of expectation was raised to know its design, the reason gave a lot, «100 Years of Basketball in Lithuania ”, today we will know it, as well as the volume of emission that has also been announced.
The design, the work of Egidijus Rapolis, shows the map of Lithuania as if it were a basketball court. At the top is the name of the issuing State "LIETUVA" and at the bottom the years of commemoration "1922 -2022", the last figure also serves as the year of issue. At the bottom right is the mint mark of the Lithuanian Mint.
The edge of the coin, like all those issued by Lithuania in this value, will have the legends: LAISVĖ * VIENYBĖ * GEROVĖ * (FREEDOM * UNITY * WELFARE *).
The issue volume of this coin is 750,000 pieces, of which 7,500 in Bu quality will be presented in a coincard, the rest will be distributed in the classic rolls of 25 coins.
The truth is that they could have gone a bit more careful and not simplified the design so much, I was particularly disappointed. I think the only beneficiary will be the engraver, who is presented with a pleasant job.
Remember that in 2022 Lithuania will also issue two other 2 euro commemorative coins, dedicated to the "Lithuanian Ethnographic Regions - Suwalki", and the common commemorative one for the "35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program".
