There is something special about wild horses that run free, even more so if they do it in herds, such as those that trot freely in the Australian Alps. These equine beauties are known as Brumby Horses in honor of James Brumby (1771-1838), an English soldier and shepherd. Brumby was forced to release the horses he had raised in New South Wales after being assigned to Tasmania in 1804. Today, these beautiful wild creatures descended from Brumby's original lineage have come to symbolize the force of nature in Australia for its ability to thrive in a hostile environment.

To pay tribute to these magnificent animals, The Perth Mint Australia Mint has issued a one ounce silver coin depicting a Brumby horse galloping freely through a stream. Coined in an ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this coin is a gleaming tribute to an Australian icon considered by many to be a symbol of the nation's strong and capable character.

The reverse design of the coin shows an Australian Brumby bighorn horse galloping free through the waters. The Perth Mint mint mark 'P', the weight and purity of the metal, and the year 2020 also appear in the design. Each of the 25,000 coins in this issue also includes a security feature in the form of a letter engraved with a micro-laser that can only be detected when viewed through a magnifying glass.

The obverse shows the effigy and name of Queen Elizabeth II created by Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark and inserted into Australian currency this year. The face value, $ 1, appears below the Queen's image. The composition is completed by the name of the country under which the currency is issued, Australia.
