For 30 years, the National Police Remembrance Day has been celebrated every September 29 as a way to honor the police forces in their daily work, for the sacrifices made by those who are still active, for those who are already retired and especially for those who gave their lives in an act of service. This is the theme chosen for the circulating and colored commemorative 2-dollar coin that has just been issued in Australia.

The coin design resembles a police badge, which incorporates the San Edwards crown (often known as the 'Queen's Crown') in the center, and the seven-pointed Commonwealth Star (also known as the Federation Star), which represents the 1901 Federation of Australia The star is surrounded by a crown of flowers, which represents victory. The blue and white checkered pattern known as a Sillitoe tartan (commonly known as "dicing") is used by police forces throughout Australia and is shown on uniforms and vehicles. This coin design unifies all Australian police forces in a spirit of solemn remembrance and gratitude.

The obverse shows, like all 2-dollar coins, the portrait and name of the queen "Isabel II", the name of the issuing country "Australia" and the year of issuance "2019".
