Created in August 1918 the Kobzar Choir is a group of traditional Ukrainian music in which the bandura, an instrument that combines elements of the lute and the psaltery, is the protagonist. Dedicated to this issue, the Bank of Ukraine issued on October 18 a coin of 5 grivnas minted on an alloy of alpaca or German silver.
The obverse of the coin shows in its upper part the inscription "Ukraine", under which the emblem of the State of Ukraine is shown, on both sides appear the years 1918 and 2018, the face value 5 grivnas appears below. In a stylized composition, in a context of floral ornaments, seven banduras appear. Legends alluding to the choir surround the central composition, which also shows the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The reverse of the coin shows a stylized composition in which a wreath of flowers and the strings of a bandura intermingle. Surrounding the composition appear legends alluding to the creation of the Choir.
