O nouă monedă comemorativă din Vatican - 18.05.2018

A few moments ago, from the Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico Vaticano they sent me the official information regarding the first commemorative 2 euro coin dedicated to the "European Year of Cultural Heritage", for which they announce their emission on June 1st.

As usual, the currency will be offered for sale in two qualities, BU and Proof, at the price, for subscribers, of 18 and 37 euros respectively, plus the corresponding shipping costs.

The motif represents the statue of Laocoon and his children, also called Laocoonte sculptural group, a pioneering work in the world of sculpture and founding of the Museums of the Holy See. At the bottom, in the center, there is an indication of the issuing country "Città del VATICANO". From left to right, in a semicircle, the inscription "ANNO EUROPEO DEL PATRIMONIO CULTURALE" is read. The year of issue "2018" and the mint mark "R" appear in the upper right. In the lower right part appears the name of the artist «D. LONGO ».
