The Bank of Ukraine issues two coins with facials of 2 and 10 grivnas minted one in alpaca and the other in silver, both with the same design, belonging to the series "Flora and Fauna of Ukraine", dedicated to the Barbus. borysthenicus, a species of Barbel belonging to the family of carps, included in the Red Book of Ukraine and the European Red List as an endangered or threatened species.
The reverse of the coin shows a Barbus borysthenicus at the bottom of the water and the semicircular inscriptions of the name of this river fish: in Ukrainian МАРЕНА ДНІПРОВСЬКА (above) and its scientific name BARBUS BORYSTHENICUS (below).
The obverse of the coin is framed by a garland decorated with various species of flora and fauna, the emblem of the State of Ukraine and the inscriptions: Ukraine / 10 grivnas / 2018 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The coin of 2 grivnas has the same design, with the difference that the reverse side is colored.
