It is not the first coin of this type, colored and shining in the dark, that the Royal Canadian Mint puts up for sale, but it is dedicated to the iconic maple leaf emblem of the country that can also be obtained in Canada at a price that affordable, $ 29.95 Canadian, about € 20 to change.

In contrast to a multitude of finely engraved leaves, a bright red maple leaf is the central motif of the coin, silhouette universally recognized on the Canadian flag. Smaller leaves shine in natural light; but the photoluminescent technology (which shines in the dark) adds a second visual experience in the dark, where a ring of maple leaves that glow green surrounds the large red leaf present in the piece and in the hearts of all Canadians.

Designed by Canadian artist José Osio, his coin is a powerful symbol of Canadian identity with the maple leaf in the center. A finely engraved mix of maple leaves of different sizes fills the field and conveys a sense of energetic celebration behind the large red maple leaf that is at the heart of the design. Its coin is transformed into darkness, where photoluminescent technology adds a backlit effect to the prominent maple leaf and a bright green glow to select the leaves that surround it.

The obverse presents the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
