The Bank of Mexico has put into circulation a commemorative coin of 20 pesos for the bicentenary of the death of Generalissimo Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, with which remembers and honors the life and work of one of the most distinguished Mexican patriots who fought for National Independence and Mexico to build a free, sovereign, just and egalitarian nation.

The obverse of the coin depicts the Coat of arms of Mexico surrounded by the inscription "UNITED MEXICAN STATES". While the reverse bears stamped, as the main reason and the midfield, the portrait of the Generalissimo Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, left profile; in upper semicircle and two lines, he bears the legend "tragic BICENTENARIO Generalissimo Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon"; on the left and right margins respectively, the years "1815" and "2015"; in the epigraph, on the lower semicircle, the name under letter "TWENTY PESOS" and mint mark M °, mark the Mint of Mexico, to the right of the portrait.
Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon noted not only for its brilliant military career, during their campaigns freed important regions of New Spain realist domain, but especially for its political work; which it was reflected in numerous provisions and the "Feelings of the Nation", read at the opening session of the Congress of Chilpancingo, editor of the Constitution of Apatzingan, first in Mexico, in summarizing his political and social ideas.
